The charming Slovenian capital, located in the heart of Europe, is often called the “City of Dragons”.
Legend has it that Ljubljana was founded by the Greek hero Jason, who killed a formidable dragon that was terrorizing the area.
Today the city preserves its heritage: its streets and buildings are decorated with statues and symbols of dragons. This is especially true because the Year of the Dragon is coming according to the Chinese zodiac.
One of the city’s most iconic landmarks is the Dragon Bridge, each corner of which is guarded by four majestic statues. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century. Today it is considered a symbol of strength and protection.
The dragon is also depicted on the city’s flag. And also on numerous souvenirs in tourist shops.
And obviously this is not a new trend. In the city museum you can find artifacts that also depict dragons.
Workers at a local Chinese restaurant are especially excited for the Year of the Dragon.
According to the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Dragon succeeds the Year of the Rabbit.
